Heirus Midwifery was one of the first clients that made me want to pursue web design as the main part of my business.

Heirus was a new midwifery business, started in Redding (California) by a friend of mine, Catherine. She was just finishing her midwifery training and was starting to go freelance. She needed a website to showcase what her business was about. She had a web designer that had started on the project but there were some misunderstandings around what Catherine wanted. I came up some mockups and she really liked them. We continued to build something she was entirely happy with.

I wanted this site to reflect Catherine, who loves nature, is very environment and health conscious, as well as loving the outdoors. I chose earthy colours and a design that was clean but not clinical. Her vision behind Heirus is that it's about the natural processes of growth and life, so to have something very white and ordered would have been in opposition the feel and culture of what she was building. Therefore I chose to restrict straight lines to just a couple of places, no sharp corners but have a more fluid, flowing, natural feel to the design and layout.

It was a pleasure to work on this project, and to continue to work with Catherine to design and post on her social media, as well as printed media too.
